Join us this Wednesday, September 22nd for our guest speaker Rebecca Kidwell, President at LEARN Science & Math Club! LEARN Science & Math Club is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization that provides rich, exciting and hands-on learning opportunities through the use of robotics, engineering and programming projects and laboratory experiments for five to eighteen year-olds in the Kansas City area. Since 2004, their work actively fosters the collaboration, organization and communication skills necessary to work and play together. WBRC has volunteered several time with Geeks for Kids, a program at LEARN. Volunteers build custom, electric cars for kids who cannot get around on their own. The kids’ challenges vary. Some cannot walk. Others can stand and even walk with crutches or other aids, but still have trouble keeping up with their typically-developing peers. Some cannot use their hands effectively or at all. Some can only move their heads and necks. Each car is customized for each child’s specific needs.
